USMC Motor T Mechanics Question?

I'm signed up for MOS 35xx in the Marine Corps. I am not able to pick my specific job in the field. I will be assigned after MCT according to what the Corps needs at that time. I am wondering how often i will get to drive trucks or atleast be a gunner in a convoy if I am assigned to be a mechanic. I want to be a mechanic but I also want the experience of combat. Really looking for answers from Marines in the Motor T field. Thanks and Semper Fi!
