Matt Hughes awarded a BJJ Black Belt?

Some forums are giving conflicting information on this. While some say it's bogus if it's true, when he fought Chris Lydle, Eddie Bravo was saying that Matt Hughes was passing guard like a world class BJJ fighter. If belts in BJJ are often awarded based on how you perform against other BJJ fighters, why not give Hughes one?
