Marine Corps Military Police vs Army Military Police?

Which one serves more as a police officer? I know a national guardsman who is an MP and he says they do more convoy escorts and combat patrols? Just wondering who would be more like a civilian police officer. I've seen a youtube video about a USMC MP ride-along, looks just like an Army MP and a civilian officer. Can anyone help me with this?
